Golf Ball Drop
Don't Drop the Ball
On Saturday, February 24th, five hundred numbered golf balls will drop from above onto
the frozen surface to determine the prize winners. The ball drop is among the day's
festivities at Blandin Beach, which starts at 11 a.m. and includes food vendors, a beach
bar, fire pits, a silent auction, and raffles.
Golf Ball raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased at community locations, including
North in Bloom (204 NW 1st Ave., Grand Rapids) and United Way (350 NW 1st Ave.,
Suite A, Grand Rapids). United Way board members and event organizers will also be
out in the community promoting ticket sales leading up to the event. Tickets can also be
reserved by sending a check to United Way of 1000 Lakes at 350 NW 1st Ave., Suite A,
Grand Rapids, MN 55744. Must be purchased using cash or check (no credit cards).
The drop will take place at the tournaments close (3:30 p.m.) along Blandin Beach, at
601 NW 10th Ave in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Tickets will be available for sale until the
day of the raffle or until all tickets have been sold, whichever occurs first.
Five prizes worth over $1,000 will be raffled, including the Grand Prize of $500 cash!
Additional prizes include (1) $250, (2) $100, and (1) $50. Entrants must be 18+ years of
age. Winners do not need to be present to win.
If no ball enters the hole, the closest ball to the hole wins the grand prize, and
consolation prizes may be awarded based on distance from the hole as determined by
event measurement team. In the event of a tie, a coin toss will determine the winner.
